Turn published mileage into a route plan without treating it as a guarantee.

A long-range electric scooter should cover the planned route with enough reserve for wind, hills, stops, temperature changes and an alternate path. The collection currently compares two models published up to 30 miles and one published up to 35 miles.

Those maximums are useful for model comparison, but they are not guaranteed real-world distances. Rider load, speed, acceleration, tire pressure, surface, weather and battery condition change energy consumption.

Compare battery energy before mile claims

Current HOVSCO specifications list an internal 36V 10.4Ah lithium-ion battery for Felicity, Xander Max and Porto Max. Multiplying voltage by amp-hours gives approximately 374.4Wh of listed energy capacity. Watt-hours help compare capacity, but identical watt-hours do not guarantee identical range.

Different rolling resistance, weight, riding position, accessories, software and speed can change how efficiently that energy becomes distance.

Understand the 30- and 35-mile published options

  • Felicity long-range scooter: published up to 30 miles, with dual suspension, 10-inch tires and approximately 40.12 lb net weight.
  • Xander Max extended-range scooter: published up to 30 miles, with 10-inch tires, no listed suspension and approximately 36.2 lb net weight.
  • Porto Max long-distance scooter: published up to 35 miles, with 12-inch wheels, a saddle, rear basket and 43.1 lb net weight.

The Porto Max figure is five miles higher, but its seated configuration and potential cargo mean the real operating conditions can differ from the standing models.

Plan round-trip distance plus reserve

Begin with every segment from start to final return. Include errands, missed turns, station transfers and the distance between parking and charging. Add a reserve before comparing the total with any published maximum.

The farthest point should not require using the last available energy to get home. If a route only fits when every condition is ideal, choose a shorter route, add safe charging access or reconsider the vehicle.

Speed can consume range quickly

Aerodynamic demand rises as speed increases, so sustained high-speed riding can reduce distance. Repeated hard acceleration also uses more energy than smooth starts. Felicity is currently published up to 21 mph; Xander Max and Porto Max are published up to 19 mph.

Use a speed that is safe and legal for the route. A higher product maximum is not permission to operate at that speed on every road, path or campus.

Hills, wind and temperature change the result

Climbing increases motor demand, and a headwind can turn an otherwise flat route into a high-energy trip. Low or high battery temperature can affect performance. Plan the return direction: an easy outbound ride with a tailwind can become a demanding return ride.

Published gradeability is not a universal hill guarantee. Slope length, rider load, starting speed, charge level and surface all matter.

Rider and cargo load belong in the estimate

Include the rider, clothing, locks, bags and all carried items. Porto Max includes a rear basket, but the scooter's total maximum load is not the same as the basket's independent capacity. Secure cargo so it cannot affect steering, braking or the wheels.

Track how remaining charge changes when the normal load changes. A range estimate created without work gear or groceries may not represent the regular route.

Build a personal range record

For repeated routes, record start charge, distance, speed mode, temperature, wind, elevation, load and remaining charge. Several ordinary trips produce a more useful estimate than one test under ideal conditions.

Increase the reserve as the battery ages or when the route is time-critical. Stop relying on a previous result if tire, battery, weather or load conditions materially change.

Charging time is part of long-range ownership

Current product specifications list approximately six hours of charging time. Confirm the exact model manual and use only the supplied or manufacturer-approved charger. Charge in a clear, dry area while present, not while sleeping or when nobody is home.

Do not assume destination charging is available without permission. Confirm the outlet, time window and safe place for the complete scooter before building it into the route plan.
