What do I need to do before I get ready to ride?
Free. Desire to explore. An urge to make your heart beat faster. Almost everyone who's ever ridden a bike knows what it's like to go out for a ride. That's why e-bikes are becoming more and more popular. However, for the rider who leaves the house unprepared, it all falls apart! We all know the fun of getting out on a bike, but we also know that sometimes bad things happen to good people. Even if things don't go as planned, a little precaution can keep you going. Here are some tips to make sure the ride stays fun no matter what!
- Battery level should be checked. The tank doesn't need to be completely full (although that's always good), but it should be full enough for the ride you are taking.
- Be sure to check your tires! The inner tubes are permeable, and they will lose air over time. Keep your tire pressure within the range printed on the sidewall to prevent flats and damage to the rim. It is a great idea to have a floor pump with a gauge at home. Gas station pumps operate at a much higher volume and are generally not a good choice for bicycle tires.
- Make sure your front quick release skewer is tight. If you regularly remove the front wheel to transport the bike, this is especially crucial.
- Make sure both brakes are in contact with the wheel. Eventually, brake pads wear out and cables need to be adjusted-so always make sure you can stop.
